Description of this source: The major part of the 1557 defter of khas properties in the Szekszárd and Szeged Sanjaks is a list of the Christian population (reaya) in Tolna town (under Ottoman rule). Going by blocks (mahalles) the conscriptio lists heads of households and the per capita tax (jizya) levied on them. Paupers follow the regular tax-payers for each of the mahalles. The second part of the defter with other places only lists the numbers of houses in them, without personal names.
